Nothing like a festival to go all out on makeup! Indians weddings will be the second best. I've always been a fan of Eid looks...The head jewelry, the Hijab, the elegance, it's all next level. So for this years Eid Al-Fitr (Falls on the coming weekend), here's my rendition. For all my Muslim friends celebrating..Eid Mubarak to you and the family. May Allah bless you with all the happiness in this world!
For makeup, I went with the classic heavy smoky eye look. There's nothing more alluring than a good smoky eye. I'm a newbie and I actually find smoky eyes easier to do than most multi-color eyeshadow looks.
Tip: For a clean edged smoky eye, I always put some scotch tape on the sides of my eye. Saves me from panda eyes!
- After applying Urban Decay Primer potion on both lids (Hands down the best eye primer!!), I smudged a lot ofblack eyeliner pencil on the eyelid (Lakme Eyeconic). It intensifies the whole look and saves me from piling on Black Powder Eyeshadow for like 20 hours. Black pencil liner was followed by some matte black eyeshadow 'Serious' from TheBalm N*de tude palette. Blend blend blend!
I then used some matte brown 'Sultry' over the crease to create some gradient.
In the inner eye corner and under the brows, I popped on some highlighter (TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer = My life).
Curled lashes and added Artdeco Extreme Volume Mascara on them. I wanted to apply some false lashes but ran of time!
- I filled my brows using Black Kajal on an angled eyeliner brush, the tip I picked up from Ikya's Summer Makeup video. It has totally changed my brows. I love them more now. Here's hoping they don't look too harsh! Do they?
- Some contouring with my usual favorite TheBalm Hoola Bronzer as its completely matte.
- Some highlighting on the bridge of my nose, under the brows, in cupids bow and on the cheek bones with TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer Highlighter.
- On my cheeks is the beautiful peachy blush 'Style' by MAC.
- On my lips is MAC lipstick in Twig (Satin Finish)! Perfect neutral shade for us browns. Its got that much needed touch of pink!
- On my Nails is Artdeco Couture Nail Lacquer in 776- Couture Red Oxide.
- The head piece/Matha Patti is my accessory of the season. I bought this particular one back home for just 750 Rs online (About $17 NZD). Its a tad heavier to carry all day but I love the princess feel to it. I can't wait to add more of these in my collection when I hit India next. Need ones that I can dance in!
- The Green Silk Hijab is a dupatta/veil of one of my Indian Outfits that doesn't fit me anymore. Sigh :( I wore the outfit with MAC Ruby Woo in this review here!
Wrapping up! I loved how the whole look tied up. Personally I would have just added a touch more smokiness on the eye. The pictures didn't capture it very well. MAC Twig was the perfect partner to this look as it keeps my whole face alive.
What do you think of the look? Could I do it any different? I'd love to hear your opinion! Talk to me in the comments below :)
Here's me sending lots of love and happiness to you and your family on this blissful day. I hope you enjoy tons of food and loads of laughter. Inshallah!

- On my face is MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation in NC-35 (sample size) mixed with a drop of Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator (Sample) to add some glow. I felt the foundation was a bit too dark on me. NC 30 is a touch light so I'm kinda somewhere between NC 30 and 35! NC 32.5 maybe?
- Under my eyes is Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in shade 'Medium' (phew!!)
